Sony QSSR on PS5: Supported Games and PS5 Pro Differences
Sony QSSR brings AI upscaling to standard PS5. Explore supported games, differences from PS5 Pro’s PSSR and why developer updates are required.

Sony sold AI upscaling as a reason to buy a PS5 Pro.
Now it is bringing a lighter version to the PS5 you already own.
Quick Spectral Super Resolution, or QSSR, uses a streamlined neural network to improve image detail and stability on the standard console. The same hardware gets a new way to reconstruct sharper images.
Marvel’s Wolverine and Ghost of Yōtei are the first games to receive patches. Sony is making the technology available to all PlayStation developers.
There are limits. Sony still positions the Pro’s PSSR as its best upscaling technology. Other games will need developer support and updates before players benefit.
But the commercial tension is interesting.
Better graphics help sell new consoles. Better software can give players another reason to keep their existing one.
Sony is bringing part of a premium feature to customers who never bought the premium hardware.
That could strengthen the PlayStation ecosystem while making the upgrade decision harder: how much better does a new console need to be when the one under your TV keeps improving?
For me, this is one of AI’s most useful applications in gaming: improving the experience on hardware people already own.
Would this make you postpone a console upgrade?
